Connie Lionheart is just an girl, sort of, who have to move in and live with her relative while her parents and her brother are in Manila. Her aunt though, is not quite normal, she disappears sometimes without even leaving a note. Oh, and there's one more thing you need to know about Connie, animals go crazy around her.
It's a normal morning at Hescombe, Connie Lionheart is at the pier playing with her favorite flock of seagulls. The seagulls are her friend as well as most other animals in Hescombe. The thought of going back to school pains her very existence since she was shunned from every school she has ever attended. All of the bad memories flood to her head, the animals had gone crazy. That's the thing, animals seem to bond with her in an incredibly fast pace that is definitely impossible for even the best of the best. Connie isn't happy about about her appearance too, she have mismatching eyes and brown but tangled hair. Her aunt, Evelyn Lionheart, doesn't really pay attention to her that much either so she's on her own. Just thinking of stepping into a classroom make her whole body twitch uncomfortably to the thought. She keep asking "What did I ever do to deserve this?"
Today, well, her aunt actually wanted to take her to meet a friend of hers. There, she met a boy with the same mismatching eyes. The boy's name is Col Clamworthy he's Mrs. Clamworthy's grandson. Mrs. Clamworthy is her aunt's friend but she's years older than aunt Evelyn. Col will be in Connie's class and this actually helped her feel better. One night, her aunt decide to leave her alone again without any explanation. Connie isn't going to let that happen again, she want answers. Upon the question, her aunt's only replied "To a meeting with the Society."
