Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days by Jeff Kinney

It's summer vacation and every kid is excited, well, most of them. for Greg Heffley, summer vacation brings a lot of trouble, not to mention the sizzling hot sun. At first, things are great, he get to go to the country club with Rowley's family. They would order smoothies and swim in the pool but Greg is not satisfy. His complains bought him a ticket to his boring old home with nothing to keep him company but his beloved video games. The bad news just keep on coming.

His mom wants him to go outside and play in the bright hot sun, his dad wants him to wake up early in the morning plus his annoying siblings became much more annoying since they're on summer vacation too. To make the situation grimmer, they're short on cash so there will be no trip to the beach this year. Greg was old enough to ride on the Cranium Shaker, the ride that proves that you have become a man, so that sucks. Worst of all is that he owed Mr. Jefferson money for all the smoothies he ordered.

Then again, he had already decided to get some fun out of this vacation. First thing first, pay Mr. Jefferson back. Just then, his dad brought home something he have always wanted, something he longed for years now. His dad brought home a...

Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

For Greg Heffley the most useless, idiotic, and ridiculous idea ever is the invention of middle school. Middle school in Greg's opinion is a place where kids who are completely normal have to mix with freaks who hit the growth spurt WAY too early.

Greg Heffley's summer wasn't a fun one nor a relaxing one thanks to his brother. He always has to be on guard for any pranks Rodrick sent his way. Then, the day comes when he have to face his toughest challenge yet, middle school. He decided that he will be the most popular kid at his school. For him, this is just another step to the rich and famous future he long for. He started to hatch up plans with his best friend Rowley Jefferson and put them into action. Follow their mischievous and wacky adventure in the original Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney and see whether their bond of friendship is strong enough to withstand the pressure of middle school.

Secret of the Sirens by Julia Golding

Connie Lionheart is just an girl, sort of, who have to move in and live with her relative while her parents and her brother are in Manila. Her aunt though, is not quite normal, she disappears sometimes without even leaving a note. Oh, and there's one more thing you need to know about Connie, animals go crazy around her.

It's a normal morning at Hescombe, Connie Lionheart is at the pier playing with her favorite flock of seagulls. The seagulls are her friend as well as most other animals in Hescombe. The thought of going back to school pains her very existence since she was shunned from every school she has ever attended. All of the bad memories flood to her head, the animals had gone crazy. That's the thing, animals seem to bond with her in an incredibly fast pace that is definitely impossible for even the best of the best. Connie isn't happy about about her appearance too, she have mismatching eyes and brown but tangled hair. Her aunt, Evelyn Lionheart, doesn't really pay attention to her that much either so she's on her own. Just thinking of stepping into a classroom make her whole body twitch uncomfortably to the thought. She keep asking "What did I ever do to deserve this?"

Today, well, her aunt actually wanted to take her to meet a friend of hers. There, she met a boy with the same mismatching eyes. The boy's name is Col Clamworthy he's Mrs. Clamworthy's grandson. Mrs. Clamworthy is her aunt's friend but she's years older than aunt Evelyn. Col will be in Connie's class and this actually helped her feel better. One night, her aunt decide to leave her alone again without any explanation. Connie isn't going to let that happen again, she want answers. Upon the question, her aunt's only replied "To a meeting with the Society."

Note: Short summary, please read the book to know what happens next. Thanks :)
